NOTARY PUBLIC SERVICES

Since August 2020, Rodrigo Dantas Coelho was appointed as a Notary Public for the Province of Ontario.   As a notary public, Rodrigo can notarize documents to attest them to be true copies of the original; serve as an official witness for documents; or administer declarations, affirmations and oaths. Whenever acting as a Notary Public, Rodrigo Dantas Coelho will not provide any legal advice, and cannot function a Notary Public on files he as retained as an Immigration Consultant.

It is likely that you will need to bring a piece of ID with photo, such as Driver's Licence or passport.

We offer you a few examples of situations where you can assess our Notary Public services.

Certified true copy

You can ask a Notary Public to certify that a document is a true copy of the original. Remember: You have to bring the original document with you and the copy you want notarized.

Certified copies areusually required for the following purposes: academic (academic transcription, degrees certificated), employment (certified copies your vocational documents, license certified copies), and government applications (certified true copies of passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate or name changed certificate, military service record).

You will be requested to present a piece of ID with photo, such as Driver's Licence or passport.

Invitation Letters

 A Notary Public has the power to notarise a letter of invitation for someone visiting Canada.

It is a letter from a person who has legal status in Canada to another person who is being invited to visit Canada. When the invited person asks for a visa or enters Canada so it can be shown to Canadian auhtorities.

You will be requested to present a piece of ID with a photo, such as Driver's Licence or passport.

Consent to travel documents

A minor child travelling with one or without both parents or legal guardians may be required to present a document showing consent of one or both parents or legal guardians. This document may need a signature notarization.

You will be requested to present a piece of ID with photo, such as Driver's Licence or passport.

Notarizing or witnessing a signature

You can bring a document where a Notary Public may identify you and watch you sign it, certifying you have done so.

You will be requested to present a piece of ID with photo, such as a Driver's Licence or passport.

Will and testament notarization 

A Notary Public witness you signing a testament or will.

Please be sure you have the right documents before appearing before a Notary Public, as you will not receive any legal advice regarding the validity of the contents of your testament or will.

Notarizing a document

Notorizing a document usually means to certify a true copy, witness a signature or certify that a document is original.

Please be sure of which one you need, as a Notary Public is not allowed to tell you what you need.

Affidavits, Oaths, Affirmations and Declarations 

If you need to present a document attesting your oath, affirmation, and declaration, you can bring it to a Notary Public who will administer it.

For example, statutory declarations required by Law (as Marital Status, common-law), for insurance purposes, and other situations.

Lieu of Guarantor form for Canadian Passport

You may be request present a Statutory Declarion in Lieu of Guarantor form when applying for Canadian passport.

 

You cannot find this form online, but you will need a Notary Public to notarize it.

Property documents

Once you have your property documents complete, you can bring them to a Notary Public to witness you signing in the document where you need to sign it.

You need to sign in front of the Notary Public.

You will be required to present a piece of ID with photo, such as Driver's Licence or passport.
